LAO REHABILITATION FOUNDATION, Inc.

















Duly incorporated in the State of California as a non-profit organization, the primary purpose of the Lao Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. is to provide medical services to Laotian citizens, with a greater focus on children. The foundation recognizes that the best guarantee for sound health is adequate nutrition, basic hygiene, decent shelter, education and reasonable access to medical facilities.

The central activity of the organization is to collect funds through donations, to disburse these funds in the most efficient ways, funding the most critical and urgent needs.

The Lao Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. was officially initiated on June 14th, 2002, the date of its incorporation. It is recognized as a State and Federal Tax Exempt Publicly Supported Charitable Organization 501(c)(3), employer identification number 43-1967300. The activities of the foundation are conducted by Dr. Luc Janssens, President. The foundation also maintains an office in Laos to oversee activities.

The organization was audited by the IRS in June 2005. The examination of information returns disclosed that the organization continues to qualify for exemption from federal income tax.

In addition to providing food, items of personal hygiene and clothing to the children of the Lao National Rehabilitation Center, a school for handicapped children, and the children of the House of Light, a school for blind children, the foundation has funded the following projects:

• The construction of a refectory at the Center for Handicapped Children in Vientiane.

• The construction of a water drainage system, water pumping and storage at the Center for Handicapped Children in Vientiane.

• The replacement of a roof, the installation of electric power and the installation of 32 fans at the High School in Simmano.

• The construction of a Health Care Center in Simmano, including essential medical equipment, telephone installation and appropriation of essential medicines.

• The construction of a classroom, a well, water storage, a toilet and a septic system at the elementary school in Simmano.

• The purchase and installation of a new computer system for Simmano High School.

• The purchase and installation of a new computer system for the Sikottabong District Hospital.

• The installation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment with recording and printing capabilities, including basic traning for the medical staff at:

      • Hatsayfong District Hospital
      • Sissatanak District Hospital
      • Sikottabong District Hospital
      • Sathani District Hospital
      • Naxayfong District Hospital
      • Naxaythong District Hospital
      • Botem Provincial Hospital
      • Pakgneum District Hospital
      • Saysettha District Hospital

• The installation of an EKG machine at Sikottabong District Hospital.

• The installation of Dental Equipment at Hatsayfong District Hospital.

• The construction of a new Health Care Center in Ban Maknao, including essential medical equipment, appropriation of essential medicines and cultivation of medicinal plants.

• English Language education and training for medical staff.

• The construction of a new library and IT center at Simmano High School, including books, 10 computers, printers, language learning software and photocopy machine.

• The installation of a new computer system at the Vientiane Health Department Malaria Control Center.

• The installation of a new computer system at Paksa Secondary School and Pabath Secondary School, Pakgading District, Borlikhamsay province.

• The installation of a new dental chair and x-ray equipment at:

      • Maknao Health Care Center
      • Vientiane Municipal Health Department Dental Clinic
      • Naxaythong District Hospital
      • Sikottabong District Hospital

• The installation of an operating room at Sissatanak District Hospital, including anesthesia machine, patient monitors, EKG, defibrillator, electrocautery, oxygen tanks and regulators, autoclave and surgical instruments.

• The construction of a steel bridge at Simmano village.

• The installation of medical laboratory equipment at Naxaythong District Hospital.

• The sponsorship of a plastic surgery mission at Sissatanak District Hospital.

• In cooperation with Standard Chartered Bank (Thai IT Division), the installation of a computer learning center for medical staff at the Vientiane Department of Public Health. The project includes professional teaching staff.

• In cooperation with the Foundation for Assisting Poor People of Lao PDR, the sponsorship of a food relief mission in Attapeu Province.

• In cooperation with Plasticos Foundation, the coordination of a plastic surgery mission providing treatment for 63 patients at Mittaphap Hospital, Vientiane.

• The installation of colonoscopy equipment at Setthathirath Hospital, Vientiane.
