After not being allowed to enter Laos for two and a half years because of COVID travel restrictions, LRF was finally granted an official visa by mid-April 2022 to allow the delivery of long-awaited ophthalmic surgical equipment and supplies in early May. LRF celebrates World Sight Day with the Staff of Oudomxay Provincial Hospital and other Eye Care Organizations on October 14, 2021.

Opened in January 2020 with the support of LRF that included equipment and training, Houn Eye Care Clinic serves the needs of a population of over 80,000 people. Houn, the second largest district of Oudomxay province includes 94 villages. The ethnic population is 70% Khamou, 20% Lao Loum and 10% Hmong.
