MAY 2023 – MOBILE EYE CARE MISSION IN PHONGSALY PROVINCE

MAY 2023 – MOBILE EYE CARE MISSION FOR CATARACT SURGERY, REFRACTION AND DONATION OF GLASSES IN PHONGSALY PROVINCE. This preventive eye care mission was a partnership between the Oudomxay and Phongsaly Provincial Public Health Departments in cooperation with the Lao Rehabilitation Foundation (LRF) and See Eye Expedition International (SEE). NOVEMBER 2022 – MOBILE EYE CARE AND CATARACT SURGERY MISSION IN PHONGSALY PROVINCE

Our second mobile cataract surgery mission of 2022 brought us to Phongslay, the least visited and most extreme northern province of Laos, bordering China to the North and west and Vietnam to the east. MAY 2022 – STRENGTHENING EYE CARE AND CATARACT SURGERY MISSION IN LUANG PRABANG AND OUDOMXAY PROVINCES

After not being allowed to enter Laos for two and a half years because of COVID travel restrictions, LRF was finally granted an official visa by mid-April 2022 to allow the delivery of long-awaited ophthalmic surgical equipment and supplies in early May. Covid-19 Relief

At the peak of the Covid-19 epidemic in the North of the country, LRF provided support to people placed in quarantine by the health authorities, often without sufficient food or warm clothing as was the case for this young woman and her newborn infant quarantined in a school while transiting from Pakbeng to her home in Oudomxay.

JANUARY 2020 – HOUN EYE CARE CLINIC – OUDOMXAY PROVINCE

Opened in January 2020 with the support of LRF that included equipment and training, Houn Eye Care Clinic serves the needs of a population of over 80,000 people. Houn, the second largest district of Oudomxay province includes 94 villages. The ethnic population is 70% Khamou, 20% Lao Loum and 10% Hmong.
